They are not in her pockets. She plunges her hands in to try and calm the arctic cold that has arrived this week. She doesn't have to fight with anyone to sit quietly; she has almost the entire beach to herself. Only a seagull approaches her, which is disappointed when it sees she is not eating any food it can steal. She watches it concentrate on a nearby sand mound and start to rummage. It scratches and scratches with its feet, but pulls nothing out. Until it succeeds. First, a piece of black fabric comes out, like wool. Until an agile peck rips it out completely. Her gloves. When she tries to retrieve them, the seagull has already escaped.
