The entity was founded in 2004 and brings together more than fifty companies and sports and cultural entities in Barcelona. Its founding partners include FC Barcelona, the Centre Excursionista de Catalunya, the Orfeó Català Palau de la Música, the Real Club de Polo, the Racc, the Círculo del Liceo, the Club Natació Barcelona, RCD Espanyol or the Círculo Ecuestre.

The jury of the Sport Cultura awards decided a year ago to grant the award for Best Career 2019 to rally driver Carlos Sainz "for being a legend in his specialty" and for all the victories achieved. The outbreak of the pandemic prevented the annual awards ceremony from being held and it was not until this week that Sainz was able to receive the award from the president of Sport Cultura, Albert Agustí.
