Seat is launching the construction of one of the largest industrial self-consumption plants in Europe. The installation will have 46,000 solar panels, totaling 26.44 MWp of power.
The solar panels will be located on roofs and parking lots, and will be distributed across the factories in Martorell, Sant Esteve Sesrovires, El Prat de Llobregat, and Barcelona. In total, they will occupy an area of 233,000 square meters, a figure equivalent to 23 football fields.
The renewable energy expert company Greening Group and the marketer Conecta 2 Energía will be responsible for promoting this photovoltaic park. The works will have a budget of 22.5 million euros.
This investment will allow the automaker to triple its capacity to self-generate renewable energy. Specifically, when the panels become operational, they will generate 39 GWh of energy annually, reaching almost 50 GWh of renewable generation per year, in addition to avoiding the emission of up to 10.65 tons of CO2 annually. The new photovoltaic park is part of Seat's project to decarbonize its plants and strengthen renewables as a competitive element in the industry.
