For years, health was mainly associated with hospitals, consultations, and treatments. Now it also begins to be built from other places: digital platforms, communities, online training, advanced supplementation, and business models built around wellness.
Barcelona has not been left out of this transformation either. In recent years, projects have begun to emerge that mix health, technology, and digital content from models much broader than the traditional consultation. One of them is Nutrición Científica Barcelona (NCB), the company founded by Dani Ciscar, which has gone from being a therapeutic project to building an entire ecosystem around integrative health.
It all started with a health problem. At 22, the founder of NCB was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome after spending years visiting doctors and specialists. That stage was the beginning of a search that years later would end up transforming into a company. From there, he began to train in naturopathy, nutrition, and biochemistry applied to health, with an idea that today remains the core of the project: to understand what is really happening in the body before simply treating symptoms. "When you understand the origin, the treatment stops being a patch and becomes a directed and coherent intervention," he summarizes.
From there comes the concept on which the company has built a good part of its identity: "scientific nutrition". A methodology based on advanced analytics, biomarkers, and biochemical interpretation to design personalized therapeutic strategies from a less invasive and more preventive perspective.
What began as an individual consultation has today become a much broader structure. NCB currently has a multidisciplinary team made up of doctors, nutritionists, psychologists, trainers, and specialists linked to both clinical health and sports performance. In parallel, the project has developed training areas for health professionals, scientific dissemination, and supplement formulation. The expansion has accelerated especially during the last four years. According to company data, they have multiplied their business volume by eight and have already treated nearly 18,000 patients.
That growth also coincides with the expansion of its digital model. Social networks, online courses, educational content, and scientific dissemination are now a central part of the project's strategy. Behind this evolution there is also an evident change in the way health is consumed. Today, users research, compare, and participate more and more actively in their decisions. "The current patient no longer seeks solely to consume health, but to understand it," summarizes Ciscar.
Supplementation has also become the main economic axis of the project and currently represents around 90% of the business. EnergyProDetox stands out especially, the brand's best-known product, developed after more than a decade of clinical experience and the analysis of thousands of analytics. The supplement seeks to integrate different therapeutic strategies into a single formula and currently exceeds 70,000 units sold monthly.
This positioning has also begun to translate into recognition outside of Spain. In recent years, they have received various awards related to innovation and well-being, including recognition from The European Awards as the best European company in Nutrition, Health, Well-being, and Innovation.
In a sector where well-being has also become a trend and business, NCB argues that the difference still lies in scientific rigor and real results. "True innovation is not about following fads, but about providing useful and coherent solutions," they maintain. Concepts such as microbiota, chronic inflammation, intestinal health, or precision nutrition are beginning to emerge from the niche to enter increasingly everyday conversations.
