Modernisation has reached every sector of the economy. So much so that innovative ventures can now be found across almost any trade, even those that seem to have seen it all. The maritime world is far broader than it appears, opening up increasingly to accommodate a wider spectrum of activities. Driven by this ambition to embrace new sectors and expand its exhibitor base, the International Boat Show returns to Barcelona from 14 to 18 October. This year, it is stepping up its ambition to elevate the quality of its showcase, featuring a stronger lineup of leading domestic and international brands alongside previously uncharted facets of boating, including watersports and on-water experiences. With 170 direct exhibitors, over 300 brands represented, and more than 200 vessels, the event consolidates its status in its 63rd edition as Spain's leading maritime trade fair and one of the most prominent in Europe.
"We are particularly proud to see the industry's leading brands reinforce their commitment to Barcelona. Furthermore, we are introducing new areas and experiences that turn the show into the premier gathering place for anyone wishing to discover, purchase, or enjoy the nautical world," says the event's president, Luís Conde. In truth, the Catalan capital has well and truly made this event its own. Organised by Fira de Barcelona in partnership with the National Association of Nautical Companies (ANEN), the show will showcase an extensive selection of vessels across all lengths from major marques, alongside one of the largest catamaran exhibitions on the European boat show circuit. In addition, for this edition, the Moll de la Fusta and Marina Port Vell will host a prominent presence of leading domestic and international firms, unveiling their latest innovations against a backdrop defined by technology and sustainability both afloat and ashore. Meanwhile, the event's gastronomic offering will be located along the Marina Port Vell wharf – which will feature several high-quality bars and restaurants alongside a dedicated networking and hospitality area – and at the Moll de la Fusta, with two new dining spaces.
When it comes to the vessels, visitors will encounter prestigious shipyards and brands such as Groupe Beneteau – the French world leader in leisure boatbuilding – showcasing its Beneteau, Jeanneau, Lagoon, and Excess marques across both power and sail. Alongside them, firms like Mercury, Fjord, Bluegame, Navan, Quicksilver, Sea Ray, and X-Yachts will also be in attendance. According to the organisers, high-end sailing yacht builders including Oyster, Amel, and YYachts are returning to the Barcelona Boat Show after several years' absence. Also noteworthy is the strong showing from Spanish shipyards, with names like Amura, Kattum, Lema, and Pantiera presenting highly innovative designs. Furthermore, brands including Aventura, Bali, De Antonio Yachts, Dufour, Girbau, Highfield, Honda, Karnic, Kawasaki, Kumbra, Leopard, Level, Maxim, Pardo, Pirelli, Raymarine, Sasga, Saxdor, and Sunreef are taking part, shaping "one of the most distinguished and diversified lineups in recent years", organisers announced.
Beyond the extensive boat display, the event will assemble leading professionals as part of its conference programme, dubbed Àgora-Port and coordinated by the Port of Barcelona and the Barcelona Clúster Nàutic. Across three days and nine sessions, 25 speakers will address issues ranging from maritime vocational training and port-city coexistence to emerging consumption patterns in leisure and sport boating, as well as the future of accessible sailing. "The Barcelona show is a pivotal forum to take the pulse of the industry and share businesses' perspectives on the primary challenges and opportunities arising in this new landscape," explains ANEN Director General Jordi Carrasco.
World premieres
Among the more than 200 vessels exhibited afloat and ashore, this edition features a world premiere: the 19.65-metre YYachts Y6 sailing yacht. In tandem, the show will host a national debut: the YOT 53 catamaran, equipped with twin outboard engines. Eight vessels nominated for the European Yacht of the Year awards will also be on display. The showcase spans boats of all lengths, including 14 vessels measuring over 16 metres, headlined by the Amel 50.2, the Cranchi 62 LAI, the Pearl 63, and the Beneteau First 60. The docks of Port Vell will also feature an extensive dry display of boats ashore, with models including the Bayliner C21 OB, the Williams Jet Tender-Turbojet 280 MX, the Tiger Infinity 280, and the Highfield UL 240. "In this edition we want to unite the entire nautical community, which is why we offer a truly cross-cutting lineup designed both for prospective boat buyers and for anyone wishing to take their first steps into the exhilarating world of sailing," notes Josep Antoni Llopart, director of the event.
Sectors to discover
The Barcelona Boat Show aims to be much more than a boat exhibition, seeking to encompass activities and subsectors that are gaining ever greater prominence at sea. Water leisure activities therefore have a natural home here. This year, the Moll de la Fusta will host two major new developments. Under the banner of SeaMotion, visitors can explore Experience Water – a new on-water demonstration zone for products and equipment – alongside the Indoor Pavilion, which will feature two new themed areas. The first, Marinas & Harbour Facilities, highlights the vital role of marinas as key infrastructure for the nautical sector and maritime tourism, drawing the direct and indirect participation of over 240 harbour facilities. The second, Diving, Shopping & Water Sports, will promote scuba diving, watersports, and the nautical lifestyle among professionals and enthusiasts alike.
Alongside on-water activities, another cornerstone of the show's modernisation is its embrace of sustainable models. To that end, it will debut a new area, the Innovation Dock, showcasing 100% electric boats and accessories. This space will combine a land-based exhibition with sea trials, giving visitors a comprehensive overview of clean marine mobility solutions designed to curb emissions and reduce noise pollution. In addition, sea trials for prospective buyers will be expanded to support decision-making and cement the Barcelona Boat Show's reputation as the European event offering the greatest scope for on-water testing. Within this setting, the show will also play host to the historic Barcelona International Rowing Trophy.
