Roca strengthens its leadership in the bathroom. The Barcelona-based company is the largest manufacturer of sanitary porcelain, that is, bathtubs, sinks, and WCs, in Europe, Latin America, India, and Russia, and now also becomes the largest European producer of bathroom furniture thanks to the acquisition of Royo Group International Bathroom.
Growth in the bathroom furniture segment was one of Roca's major objectives, as its presence in this area was not as strong as its presence in sanitary porcelain, faucets, or flooring. If Roca's furniture business is combined with Royo's, a division is obtained that will start with revenues of 173 million euros, two million units annually, and production centers in Spain, Portugal, Poland, the Czech Republic, Russia, China, and Brazil.
"This union will allow us to further increase our competitiveness in the bathroom space and also achieve global leadership in this segment," highlighted Roca's CEO, Albert Magrans.
Roca has bought 62% of Royo from the US fund HIG Capital; another 13% has been acquired from the Royo family, who will remain in the company's capital by retaining the other 25% of the shares.
With a turnover close to 1.9 billion euros, Roca is present in 170 countries, employs 24,000 people, and has 81 production centers for sanitary porcelain, flooring, faucets, and ceramic tiles.
