It was in 2019 when two friends from Barcelona ran out of battery in the controller of their Playstation 4 in the middle of a game and had to go through the annoying situation of playing with the charging cables connected. This was the trigger that prompted Àlex Pemán and Xavier Olaechea to create Remotto, a company that makes accessories for the gaming world. Their first product, as it could not be otherwise, is Remotto Battery, a device that extends the battery life of Playstation 4 controllers up to 20 hours.

The video game sector is one of those that has shown the strongest growth in recent years and it seems increasingly clear that the business opportunities it offers are very extensive. But it is still not common to find business initiatives in our country related to the production and manufacturing of products and accessories related to this sector.

It is true that many e-sports teams have been created, but the hardware segment has not yet been exploited. This is why Àlex and Xavier saw a great opportunity in this market. "The gaming sector is in full growth, and when we saw that our idea could have a market, we decided that we had to focus 100% on this project and make it viable," says Àlex. Their products are designed in Barcelona and manufactured in Shenzen, one of the world capitals in the production of technological articles.

The company has not carried out any financing rounds and the initial investment was self-funded. The viability of Remotto has been based on a 2020 with more than 30,000 units sold of its first product, which has meant a turnover of almost half a million euros. For this 2021, they foresee great growth thanks to the recent launch of Remotto Battery for Playstation 5, the new generation of Sony consoles.

The startup also wants to develop new products, always within the gaming world. "Until now we have focused on the Remotto Battery, which has been our first launch and has been very successful, but now we also want to design new different and innovative gaming accessories, which will open new markets for us and bring us closer to new customers, in fact we are already working on a couple of designs," says Àlex.

The success of this startup has been closely linked to its advertising campaigns, in which some of the most well-known Spanish YouTubers have participated, such as TheGrafg or Ampeterby7. This has been the company's main advertising tool, along with the positioning of its products in physical stores like Game, a reference in the world of video games.
