Qonto intensifies its presence in Barcelona. With the aim of facing the growth of its team, the French neobank has just moved its offices to the 22@ district and, more specifically, to the building that the multinational coworking space company WeWork has on Ciutat de Granada street. The new facilities will become Qonto's headquarters in Spain and will house most of its staff, which already numbers ninety employees, a figure that is expected to continue growing in the coming months.
"The hiring plans we expected to have completed by the end of the year have been accelerated, we will soon reach 100 employees and will continue to grow throughout 2023. Business in Spain is increasing its customer base at great speed and the global operations hub will grow as we achieve ambitious goals across Europe," explains Carles Marcos, director of Qonto Spain.
Until now, the company, which provides financial services for SMEs and freelancers, operated in Barcelona from the WeWork building on Paseo de Gràcia, but has moved to 22@ to have more space, which it can expand to cope with its growth. The WeWork complex in Ciutat de Granada totals 3,471 square meters distributed over six floors with multiple meeting rooms. In this initial phase, Qonto occupies nearly 300 square meters.
Headquartered in Paris and considered one of the 40 French technology companies with the greatest growth potential, Qonto already has a base of 300,000 customers in the four countries where it operates: France, Spain, Germany, and Italy. The neobank offers various financial solutions to SMEs and freelancers to simplify their daily banking and financial management, as well as their accounting and expense management. However, it does not grant loans.
Qonto entered the Spanish market three years ago and last June announced the launch of an international operations hub in Barcelona, where a multinational team provides customer service for the four countries where it operates. According to the fintech, the commitment to Barcelona is a consequence "of the availability of talent" that the city offers and also due to the large number of SMEs in Catalonia. "22@ has a very important specific weight as an innovation and entrepreneurship hub in Barcelona, and most of the city's startups are there. It is an ideal location for Qonto," highlights Carles Marcos.
Launched in 2017 by Steve Anavi and Alexandre Prot, Qonto has raised a total of 622 million euros since its inception, from investors such as Valar, Alven, European Investment Bank, Tencent, DST Global, Tiger Global, TCV, Alkeon, Eurazeo, KKR, Insight Partners, Exor and Gaingels.
