The Catalan startup Proppos, specialized in making payments in restaurants using artificial intelligence, has closed a financing round of 750,000 euros, led by BStartup, from Banco Sabadell, and in which Wayra, from Telefónica, participated. Public agents such as the Center for Technological and Industrial Development (CDTI) and Acció have also joined the Proppos round.

The emerging company, through Proppos Fastpay, wants to improve the performance of restaurants thanks to the use of big data to speed up queues at checkout, especially during peak hours, improving the shopping experience and productivity. Proppos has started pilot tests in cafeterias or fast-food restaurants: it operates through intelligent points of sale that recognize the product and price, and charge completely automatically without having to read the barcode. This solution has proven to be ten times faster than the traditional payment process in this type of establishment.
The CEO and co-founder of Proppos, Nil Salomó, explains that their objective is to position themselves at a European level as "a leader in food recognition through artificial intelligence, providing high value-added solutions to the food service sector." "With this capital increase, we want to consolidate ourselves nationally and take the first steps internationally," adds Salomó.
