Professional certificates are short training courses, mostly between 200 and 600 hours, which are structured in modules. For this reason, they are flexible and cumulative training courses, which also allow access to training cycles. They can be taken throughout the year through the SOC's own centers (the so-called CIFO), collaborating entities of the FPCAT System, as well as in vocational training centers of theDepartment of Education.In addition to being able to obtain a professional certificate once the training is completed, qualifications can also be obtained through the accreditation of professional competencies. This is a procedure to evaluate and accredit competencies acquired as a result of accumulated professional experience or non-formal training, that is, training that does not provide an officially recognized certification.

For the professional practice of some jobs in certain sectors, such as dependency care, sports, the application of biocides, or industrial installations, it is essential to first obtain the document that certifies the professional competence of the worker.
