Music and high gastronomy festival seem, at first glance, incompatible concepts. The Primavera Sound, which until Sunday, June 8, is set up in the Parc del Fórum, aims to dismantle this myth with the help of Estrella Damm. For the first time, the musical event premieres a space with table service ---the Terrassa de Estrella Damm---, for those who want to enjoy a break between so many hours of music in a privileged corner of the festival, with views of the numerous concerts that these days will seduce the more than 290,000 people who will attend the festival. An unprecedented proposal also signed by some of the most renowned chefs in Catalan gastronomy.
The menu, at a fixed price of 45 euros, features proposals from Michelin Stars Oriol Castro, Eduard Xatruch, Mateu Casañas and Nil Ducet (Disfrutar ---rated as the best restaurant in the world according to The World's Best 50 Restaurants list--- and Compartir), Nandu Jubany (Can Jubany) and Artur Martínez (El Buen Gusto). Creations also paired with cold Estrella Damm beer.
Following the success of Primavera Sound, which has opened its doors with sold-out tickets since early January, the new gastronomic space seems to repeat the same trajectory and will also hang the sold out sign for five days. With capacity for 160 diners per shift ---offering three shifts each day, at 8 PM, 9:30 PM, and 11 PM---, the terrace will serve a total of 1,500 menus over five days. All with one purpose: "to dismantle the myth that you can't eat well at a music festival," celebrated the co-director of the event, Alfonso Lanza, adding that "Primavera has always been a pioneer musically and now also seeks to be so in terms of gastronomy." Thus, the menu offers a leisurely and elaborate alternative to the classic food trucks, also present at the event, which normally permeate musical events.
Pursuing this innovative purpose, the menu begins with the freshness of the spider crab with avocado cream and trout roe proposed by the chefs of the renowned Disfrutar and Compartir. An adaptation of the emblematic dish 'Spider crab without work' that has been served practically since the beginning of Compartir's trajectory in Cadaqués, and which they have also exported to their establishment in the Catalan capital, and which they now bring to Primavera.
This refreshing starter, which allows you to enjoy a wide variety of layers and textures with each bite, is followed by Artur Martínez's reinvention of the classic Korean-style bikini. Martínez, who defines himself as a festival lover, has opted for this proposal "to get out of his comfort zone and break inertia, as well as offering a practical dish designed especially to be enjoyed in a festive context." In this tribute to high Catalan gastronomy, croquettes could not be missing either, which in this case come from the legendary Nandu Jubany, who opts for a simple but tasty Iberian ham croquette.
As a second course, diners can opt for a tasty grilled matured beef loin with confit piquillo peppers, a monkfish suquet, or a vegetarian alternative, with carrot hummus, accompanied by ricotta and sun-dried tomato. To finish with a good taste, the menu opts for the simple, but always effective, bread with chocolate, oil, and salt.
In addition, for those who prefer to enjoy good gastronomy directly at the trackside, the menu is also available for takeaway. Thus, you can directly enjoy the three starters devised by renowned chefs while listening closely to the great stars who are passing through Primavera these days, such as international pop divas Charli XCX, accompanied by Troye Sivan, Sabrina Carpenter, or Chappell Roan. To access the terrace, it is essential to reserve a table through the official event application.
Primavera Sound kicks off two months of intense musical activity in the Catalan capital. This event will be followed by Sónar, Share Fest, and Cruïlla, which will bring national and international stars such as Nathy Peluso, Bad Gyal, Gracie Abrams, and Thirty Seconds To Mars. But Primavera also represents the kickoff to summer and the activities associated with this season, such as the first swims in the sea, sharing a table with family and friends around good food and beer, or jumping over the bonfire on Saint John's Eve. Very Mediterranean customs that Estrella Damm seeks to reclaim with its new campaign El mateix de sempre. An ode to those small habits that characterize summers by the sea, with the smell of cream and salt, surrounded by the same people as always.
Starring young promises of Catalan cinema Quim Àvila, Pol Hermoso, Ariadna Llobet, Blanca Parés, and Albert Salazar, alongside the acclaimed Georgina Amorós. The advertisement also features the appearance of Quim Gutiérrez, with the same floral shirt he wore ten years ago in Estrella Damm's first short film D'acord, as well as the founders of the men's jewelry brand TwoJeys, Biel Juste and Joan Margarit.
The music, another essential part of Estrella Damm's traditional summer campaign, is on this occasion by Josep Montero, singer of the group Oques Grasses, and Rita Payés, who are in charge of covering the song Another Sunny Day by the Scottish band Belle and Sebastian with the song titled El mateix de sempre. All in all, the campaign seeks to become a plea for those small routines that, despite repeating year after year, make each summer unique and special. A plea for Mediterranean culture and the rich Catalan gastronomy that Damm defends in the campaign as well as at Primavera Sound.
