With a long career in the world of labor relations, Ginesta will lead the employer association's Labor area, after the Government dismissed him a week ago following the controversial management of aid to the self-employed collective.

Josep Ginesta has been one of the most visible faces of the Department of Labor, Social Affairs and Families of the Generalitat for four years, leading long and complicated negotiations such as those for the closure of Nissan or the strikes of Iberia ground staff at El Prat two summers ago. A professor of Labor Relations, Ginesta will be in charge of Pimec's Labor area, from where he will have to strengthen the organization "in view of the most immediate challenges," marked by the impact of the pandemic on the labor market and SMEs.

"I face the challenge with gratitude and put myself at the service of what will allow us to overcome the nightmare of the health crisis. We will only get ahead if we keep the largest number of companies alive and preserve the productive fabric, which is what allows us to create sustainable and quality jobs," Ginesta explains. For the general secretary of Pimec, Antoni Cañete, the new director of the Labor area will have to "project a broad view on all aspects of the world of work" from his position.

Ginesta joins Pimec after Elena de la Campa left the position of director of Labor Relations and Collective Bargaining to start a new professional project, but will remain linked to the entity through Pimec's Labor Commission and as a mediator of the Labor Court of Catalonia.
