September brings back the routines that had been put on hold over the summer. Getting back into our schedules, returning to work, and resuming our usual commitments also means slipping, almost without noticing, back into autopilot. And perhaps that is precisely why, amid this accelerated return to routine, taking a moment to reflect makes more sense than ever. An act as simple yet revolutionary as pausing is at the heart of CaixaForum’s En Pausa (On Pause) thought-provoking programme: a series that brings together voices from philosophy, sociology, art, literature, and science to reflect on the present without rushing.
Sociologist Hartmut Rosa, filmmaker Lucrecia Martel, and philosopher Victoria Camps are among the voices invited to take part in this exercise in pausing and reflecting, approaching themes as diverse as our relationship with time, the way we perceive reality, and the changes reshaping society. The programme invites us to step away, if only for a few hours, from the inertia of everyday life and, in turn, gives CaixaForum itself a chance to pause before embarking on the new exhibition season.
