Three generations of women, family ties and the passage of time lie at the heart of Morning Sun, a play by British playwright Simon Stephens coming to La Villarroel under the direction of Pau Roca. Translated by Adriana Nadal and starring Míriam Iscla, Anna Güell and Raquel Ferri, the play portrays the life of a woman in a constantly changing New York, where familiar bars change hands and relationships, both romantic and platonic, evolve, fade and sometimes disappear altogether.

Through three characters — a grandmother, a mother and a daughter — the production explores memory, identity and the feeling of becoming invisible as the years go by. It also delves into family bonds, shared joys and the silences that often conceal the deepest wounds. At its core, Morning Sun is a story about the passage of time and the lasting impact of the people and places that shape our lives.

The production is directed by Pau Roca, an actor and director whose career combines performance with a desire to discover new stories and explore different ways of bringing them to the stage. Trained at the Nancy Tuñón School of Dramatic Art and ESCAC, he became widely known for playing Rafa in the television series Ventdelplà, which aired from 2005 to 2010. However, it is above all on stage that he has built his career, since making his debut in 2004 with Harvey Fierstein’s Trilogia a Nova York. In 2013, he founded the production company Sixto Paz, through which he has developed more than a dozen productions, including Història, Dybbuk and Les coses excepcionals.
