A new jewel-store shines on Barcelona's Paseo de Gràcia. The emblematic commercial thoroughfare shines a little brighter these days not only because of the Christmas lights, but also thanks to the boutique that the glamorous firm Tiffany & Co has just opened on the corner with Valencia street, on the opposite side of the Hotel Majestic. Many Barcelonians and tourists who have visited the city this Immaculate Conception long weekend have come across the spectacular jewelry store, characterized by having six display windows, an area of almost 400 square meters, and an interior decoration inspired by Antoni Gaudí.
Tiffany, an American brand recently acquired by the French luxury empire LVMH, had a smaller store since 2010 located on the ground floor of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. The firm decided to change its location and move to a much larger premises, at number 61 of Paseo de Gràcia, taking advantage of CaixaBank's decision to close one of its branches.
The premises are located in an 85-year-old building, and there Tiffany has debuted a new boutique design with which it wants to pay homage to Barcelona by being inspired by Gaudí's architecture. The ceiling mosaics of the so-called Collections Room, where the jewels are displayed, stand out. This same room is also presided over by large Gaudí-inspired columns that play with the verticality of large mirrors. Another distinctive element of the boutique is a large lamp inspired by the designs of Tiffany's legendary creative director during the second half of the 20th century, Jean Schlumberger.
In addition to this store on Paseo de Gràcia, in Spain, Tiffany has two jewelry stores in Madrid, located on José Ortega y Gasset street and in El Corte Inglés on Paseo de la Castellana. Founded in New York in 1837 and famous worldwide thanks to the film Breakfast at Tiffany's, the firm has more than 300 stores worldwide and LVMH paid 15.8 billion dollars for it.
