Óptica 2000 has chosen Barcelona to launch a new store concept that aims to offer customers a differentiated eyewear shopping experience and also features an optometry office. The brand's new flagship has been located in one of the commercial arteries of the Catalan capital, Pelai street, in a premises at number 42 that had been occupied by Celio, just in front of the El Triangle shopping center.
It is a 475 square meter establishment that adopts a new design and organizes the display of glasses by brands. The first store of the One Off Concept has an optical center of the Essilor lens brand (manufacturer of Varilux lenses) equipped with advanced technology for visual and auditory examinations, retinography, and contactology.
"We want to strengthen Óptica 2000's position in Spanish territory, betting on the combination of new technologies, design and the best specialists in visual care, to be the reference vision center," says Axel Mallmann, director of GrandVision Iberia.
The Dutch group GrandVision bought Óptica 2000 from El Corte Inglés in 2019. That same year, the leading multinational in the optical sector EssilorLuxottica bought GrandVision for more than 7,000 million euros. EssilorLuxottica is the owner of well-known eyewear brands such as Ray-Ban, Oakley, Persol, Vogue Eyewear and Arnette, and is the manufacturer of licenses for Giorgio Armani, Brunello Cucinelli, Burberry, Chanel, Coach, Dolce&Gabbana, Ferrari, Michael Kors, Prada, Ralph Lauren, Swarovski and Versace, among others.
With this opening, Óptica 2000 adds 12 points of sale in Barcelona and a total of 101 stores in Spain, most of them located inside El Corte Inglés centers. "Óptica 2000's growth objective is ambitious, we have the will to boost the brand throughout the Iberian Peninsula," says Mallmann.
