Funding rounds for startups born in Barcelona continue to happen. Last.app has just raised five million euros to boost its growth plans on the European continent, where it wants to extend its software for managing all types of businesses linked to the restaurant sector. The operation has been led by the Barcelona-based investment group Nauta Capital, which is convinced of Last.app's potential "to change the rules of the restaurant sector in Europe."

The funding round also included participation from funds All Iron and Bynd, which had previously invested in the company, founded in 2019 by two former Glovo developers, Eric and Iván Nikolic. It is estimated that about 40 startups have emerged from people who have been linked to Glovo, according to the platform's co-founder, Oscar Pierre, in an interview with The New Barcelona Post.

Last.app is a restaurant management software that integrates different tools into a single solution ---marketed as a software as a service (SaaS)--- such as the reservation system, online order reception, POS, menu management, dining room management, and data capture and analysis. In addition, the platform integrates with other operating systems and programs that the restaurateur may have previously implemented, adapting to all types of establishments, from a small restaurant to a large chain.

"This investment round allows us to continue our growth trajectory, becoming leaders in Spain and beginning our expansion into the European market, all while maintaining our commitment to technology and using our resources to ensure that customers remain at the center of everything we do," highlighted Eric Nikolic, CEO and co-founder of Last.app. Along the same lines, Ivan Nikolic adds that "the future of the restaurant sector depends on the perfect integration of a multitude of tools, each precisely adjusted to adapt to the different operational needs of each establishment. At Last.app, we want to enable restaurants to harness the full potential of technology to meet their needs."

At the beginning of 2022, Last.app closed another financing round of 2.2 million in which All Iron Ventures —a fund promoted by Jon Uriarte and Ander Michelena, founders of Ticketbis—, and the Portuguese venture capital fund Bynd participated, in addition to leading business angels in Spain. A year ago, the company announced the acquisition from Repsol of the restaurant ordering and reservation platform Klikin to accelerate its growth in the Spanish market.

"At Nauta, we are always looking for vertical operating systems that respond to the changing needs of companies in a consolidated way. After our first meeting with Last.app, we knew it would be a game-changer for the restaurant sector in Europe. Last.app has the speed, technical knowledge, flexibility, and a low barrier to adoption for restaurants to benefit from it from day one and meet their customers' expectations now and in the future," argued Jordi Viñas, partner at Nauta, to justify the investment.
