Exhibition halls are only a small part of museums. Restoration laboratories, documentary archives, and collection reserves are some of the spaces normally hidden from visitors, and which will open to the public on March 1 in 17 museums in Barcelona.

Visitors will be able to enter these usually inaccessible spaces as part of the InMuseu initiative, which now changes its name to Museu Endins. Promoted by the Institut de Cultura de Barcelona (Icub) since 2017, the open day to the private spaces of museums, which requires prior reservation, will be held again with guided tours led by professionals who work in these rooms and are responsible for preserving and restoring their heritage.

Thus, Museu Endins aims to make visible an unknown side of museums and the trades that keep their historical and artistic pieces alive. With the aim of bringing this reality to the maximum number of visitors, this year the initiative incorporates as a novelty the possibility of making a prior reservation for two people per activity, with a maximum of two activities per request.

The day invites visitors to delve into the hidden side of 17 museums.

Also as a novelty, the Museu d'Arqueologia de Catalunya and the Arxiu Fotogràfic de Barcelona join the event for the first time this year, which will open reservations starting Monday, February 17, for an eighth edition with the motto A visit to the other side of museums.

The two facilities are added to museums focused on art, such as the MNAC, the Macba, the Fundació Joan Miró and the Picasso Museum, and also on science and nature, such as the Museu de Ciències Naturals de Barcelona-Castell dels Tres Dragons and the Jardí Botànic. There will also be space for history, in places such as the Museu d'Història de Barcelona, the Born and the Castell de Montjuïc, to which are added the Museu Marítim, the Monestir de Pedralbes, the Museu Etnològic i de les Cultures del Món, the Museu de la Música, the Museu del Disseny and the Frederic Marès.
