Food waste is one of the great social scourges that remain to be solved. Each year, a third of the world's food production is lost worldwide. In Spain alone, this figure reaches almost eight million tons annually. Initiatives like Too Good To Go want to reverse this.

This Danish company allows "saving" at a reduced price the surplus food that restaurants, supermarkets, and bakeries generate daily, thus preventing it from being thrown away. Their surprise packs cost between two and five euros and always contain a bit of everything.

Too Good To Go works through a mobile application that connects businesses with users. In Barcelona, more than 1,100 establishments have registered, such as Ametller Origen, El Pagès Creative Chicken, Cal Fruitós, Llegums Roca, Sopa, or El Fornet. Since its launch in the Catalan capital, this company has sold more than 680,000 packages of leftover food ---but in good condition---, a figure equivalent to 680 tons of food utilized.

This initiative is not only available in Barcelona but has already spread throughout Catalonia, with more than 2,200 registered establishments and 1.2 million food packs purchased ---1,200 tons---. Basically, it is present in large urban centers, but it can also be found in smaller towns and cities throughout the territory.

Currently, Too Good To Go reaches 14 European countries and the United States. It has more than 38 million users and more than 90,000 associated establishments. The global count of food it has sold amounts to 70 million surprise packages.
