To facilitate connection with talent. With this objective, Mercadona has renewed its employment portal, with which its personnel selection platform offers a more agile and intuitive process. The renewed tool allows anyone interested in working at Mercadona to create their profile, update it, apply for vacancies, and know the status of their applications in real time.

The portal replaces the previous system, where users had to fill in their data every time they wanted to apply for an offer. Now, with a single profile —which can be directly linked to LinkedIn or completed manually—, candidates can indicate their preferences for working hours, contract, location, or area of interest, which include everything from store jobs to logistics blocks and offices.

"In the new Employment Portal, candidates have at their disposal all the information on what the selection process at Mercadona is like," highlights Marina Ramírez, Mercadona's Talent Acquisition Manager. In addition, all those who are immersed in a process, "have all the information about its status in their profile, which is updated as the process progresses."

In addition, as a novelty with this portal, Mercadona can proactively contact candidates who fit a vacancy, even if they have not previously applied for any active offer. This allows the selection team to identify opportunities more efficiently. Thus, with the renewal of the employment portal, the company has diametrically changed the way it manages applications to incorporate talent into the company.

The tool goes further, bringing the company's day-to-day to candidates, through explanatory videos about the different job positions. This functionality makes it easier for candidates to better understand what it's like to be part of the company, and to adjust their expectations before starting the selection process.

In addition to being an improvement for the candidate, the platform "has also represented a great advance internally in terms of the visualization of each profile." This is because candidate information is collected in the same way, which allows the process to be streamlined also by the company. To continue advancing in this regard, the company does not rule out incorporating new functions into the tool: "At Mercadona, we are in constant technological development and aware of all the novelties in this field to improve day by day."

With the new functionalities and interface, the new portal aims to streamline and optimize the incorporation of talent into the company, which has a workforce of more than 110,000 employees. With a minimum salary at Mercadona 27% higher than the SMI in Spain —without taking into account the bonus for objectives—, the company's team mostly corresponds to store workers, with 82% of the workforce, along with 12% of logistics professionals, and 6% of offices. With 61% women, the workforce is made up of professionals ranging from under 30 (16%) to over 50 (18%), including professionals aged 30 to 39 (28%) and 40 to 49 (38%), who form a team that continues to grow.
