The digital company Last.app, specialized in the design of software for the restaurant business, has acquired the restaurant ordering and reservation platform of the startup Klikin, owned by Repsol. The operation responds to Last.app's interest in growing "more aggressively" in the Spanish market, according to its CEO and co-founder, Eric Nikolic, who points to a 210% jump in turnover this 2022.
The acquisition will allow the implementation of the tools developed by Last.app among Klikin's clients. The acquired startup --founded by entrepreneur Gustavo García Brusilovsky-- was in the hands of Repsol because it was interested in its Waylet payment and loyalty application, which the energy group incorporated among its clients. However, at the beginning of 2021, when it acquired all of the capital, Repsol already announced that it would seek a strategic partner to manage the other line that Klikin was promoting: the digital platform for orders, reservations, payment, and loyalty for the restaurant business.
Last.app's software provides a global solution for restaurants so that they do not have to contract different management systems for all processes linked to table or space reservations or orders, thus reducing management costs and improving control of all business operations, according to Last.app. With data from the Barcelona-based firm, the application of effective software in the reservation process allows restaurants to reduce order loss by 95% and decrease human errors caused by manual work by 90%.
Last.app's expansion phase has also focused so far this year on the development of new products and functionalities for the tools it currently markets. The significant investment in R&D has allowed Last.app to develop new products such as the reservation system ---with a new model of personalized reports--- and more than 50 product updates, the company reported. In addition, it is expected to close the year with new functionalities, such as an improvement in the ability to carry out marketing campaigns, among others.
The project leaders, entrepreneurs Eric and Iván Nikolic, former Glovo developers, are contemplating a second phase of expansion focused on entering other European markets.
