From this Friday until Sunday in La Rambla Santa Mònica, the Terra i Gust fair brings to Barcelona restaurants that are committed to sustainable gastronomy and a market of small slow food producers. This event, organized within the framework of the World Capital of Sustainable Food, aims to highlight the value chain of local products, with the artisan producer as a key piece of this mechanism. During the three days, the schedule will be from 12 noon to 11 at night.
In the gastronomic space, 16 restaurateurs showcase their sustainable cuisine, with elaborations that include local and seasonal products. For all of them, their carbon and water footprint, the land use they make, and the packaging waste they generate are disclosed, with the aim of understanding the environmental dimension of any dish.
Some of the dishes that can be tasted are the marinated sardines with onion and crispy bread from Bacaro, with products from Barceloneta fishermen; the grilled gyozas with pumpkin and Chinese spices from Casa Xica, from the organic garden of Molí del Vendrell; the bravas from El Filete Ruso, with potatoes from the Baix Llobregat Agricultural Park; L'Escala anchovies with sweet spelt bread sponge cake, blue cheese and tomato jam from Llamber, with ingredients from the Santa Caterina Market and the Rey Silo cheese factory, or the chickpea curry taco, mayonnaise and pickled turnip from Rasoterra.
Bistrot Levante, Cafè de la Casa de les Lletres, Casa Bonay, Contracorrent, Happy Foods, Monocrom, Papagayo - cocktails and food, Piel de Gallina, Teòric and Zaza - cuina i vi complete the offer of Barcelona establishments. There are also restaurants from the metropolitan area, such as CèNTRIC Gastro, from El Prat de Llobregat, which presents a farmer's sausage hot dog, chutney, horseradish cream and onion. All dishes are priced at 4.5 euros.
The dishes are complemented by a space for local craft beers, in collaboration with the Barcelona Beer Festival, made up of nine producers. There is also a natural wine space, led by Celler Credo and Can Calopa, made in Collserola. For non-alcoholic options, there is kombucha and organic soft drinks.
On the other hand, in the slow food producers' market, one can find seasonal products and gastronomic elaborations made with local and mostly organic foods. The nuts roasted in a wood-fired oven from Can Galderic (Santa Eulàlia de Ronçana); the artisanal chocolate from Chocolates Ivis (Palamòs); the honey and fresh pollen from Flors del Brugent (Mont-ral); the artisanal goat cheese from Formatgeria de Tòrrec (Vilanova de Meià); the sweet and savory elaborations from La Garrofina (Aiguamúrcia) and the fruits and vegetables from Soulblim (Viladecans) are some of the stalls that make up this market.
The fair's program is completed with showcookings, presentations, and talks about local products and sustainable catering. There are also workshops, with wine tastings from Celler Credo and Can Calopa, and craft beers such as those from La Segarreta (Santa Coloma de Queralt), Cerveses Lo Vilot (Almacelles), and JK Poblenou.
Terra i Gust is organized by Slow Food Barcelona and the Baix Llobregat Gastronomy and Tourism Association, which have a long history in the world of sustainable food. Turisme de Barcelona, the Commissioner for Social Economy, Local Development and Food Policy of the Barcelona City Council and the Barcelona Metropolitan Strategic Plan also collaborate.
