Jaume Alsina, executive vice president of Encofrados Alsina and president of the Catalan Association of Family Business (ASCEF), has been proclaimed winner for Catalonia of the Entrepreneur of the Year 2023 Award organized by EY in collaboration with IESE. He will compete in the Spanish final to be held on March 14 in Madrid, along with the rest of the finalist candidates from the different zones into which the award is divided. Subsequently, the entrepreneur who wins this edition in Spain will compete in Monte Carlo with around 60 representatives from all over the world to win the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

The award ceremony in Catalonia was held this Monday at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, as part of a lunch attended by numerous representatives from the institutional and business world. Representing the Government of the Generalitat, Albert Castellanos, Secretary of Business and Competitiveness, and Miquel Puig, Secretary of Economic Affairs and European Funds, attended the ceremony. Also present were Xavier Trias, president of Junts in the Barcelona City Council; Jaume Guardiola, president of the Cercle d'Economia; Joan Roure, emeritus professor of the Entrepreneurial Initiative Area of IESE and EY partners Rosalía Soler, Audit partner, and Pilar Fernández Bozal, EY Abogados partner, both responsible for the Entrepreneur Award for Catalonia. Rosalía Soler stressed that "these awards recognize the tenacity and effort to bring companies forward and serve as an example for the regional and national business fabric. In addition, Encofrados Alsina has a clear commitment to innovation, which is one of the aspects we highlight in this award and is fundamental when competing in global environments that know no borders." For her part, Pilar Fernández Bozal added that "leading companies entails multiple challenges. It is not easy to consolidate long-standing business projects and make them grow, which is why we consider it essential to somehow recognize that day-to-day work, which is not always easy, and which serves as a mirror for other entrepreneurs and businesspeople and also as inspiration for future generations." Headquartered in Montcada i Reixac, Encofrados Alsina was founded in 1950 by Juan Alsina Albareda, grandfather of the current CEO, as a wood warehouse for carpenters and has become a company dedicated to the design and manufacture of formwork systems for construction. Since 2003, it has been led by Jaume Alsina Casalduero and the company has significantly boosted its expansion, positioning itself as a global reference in the sector. The strategic international expansion has been driven by continuous adaptation to the needs of different markets, launching the 10-10-10 Plan (expansion in 10 countries in 10 years). It has a presence in Italy, Poland, Romania, the United States, India and Latin America and has its own network of 33 work centers in 17 countries.
