With more than seven decades of presence in Catalonia,Coca-Cola Europacific Partnersoperates today as amultinational with a strong local dimension. Most of the products it sells in the country are produced in the territory and are integrated into a value chain that includes large companies, but also a wide network of SMEs and local businesses. In an environment where the role of large companies is subject to constant analysis, the case of Coca-Cola shows how industrial activity, when accompanied by sustained investment, territorial capillarity and social commitment, can translate into a measurable and structural impact on the Catalan economy.

According to the Socioeconomic Impact Study 2024 prepared by the consulting firm Steward Redqueen, the company's local activity generated 1,003 million euros of added value to the Catalan economy, a figure that represents 0.33% of Catalonia's GDP. The scope of this impact is explained both by the company's direct activity and by the pulling effect it exerts on its value chain.

Of the total added value generated, 104 million euros correspond to Coca-Cola's direct impact in Catalonia, while 899 million euros are indirectly derived from the activity of suppliers, distributors and points of sale. In this sense, the study highlights that the greatest economic impact occurs in the company's customers —which also include its own suppliers and clients— with 755 million euros, while the contribution linked to suppliers amounts to 144 million euros. Direct and indirect activity also generates more than 280 million euros in taxes.

The impact of Coca-Cola Europacific Partners is reflected particularly clearly in the labor market. The Coca-Cola System supports 15,660 jobs in Catalonia, of which 780 are direct and 14,880 are indirect. In terms of economic efficiency, this means that for every direct job, 19 indirect jobs are generated, a figure that places the company as one of the great drivers of employment linked to industry and associated services.

This multiplier effect is closely linked to the capillarity of its distribution model. Coca-Cola markets its products in more than 45,000 points of sale in Catalonia, which include hospitality establishments, local businesses, large stores, leisure and catering spaces. A network that allows it to reach the entire territory and contributes to the economic structuring of both metropolitan areas and smaller municipalities.

An industrial commitment sustained in the territory

One of the pillars of this presence is the production plant in Martorelles and Montornès del Vallès, one of the group's main industrial facilities in Europe. With 11 production lines, 500,000 square meters of surface area and a logistics capacity that can manage up to 285 trucks daily, the plant produces the equivalent of 7 million bottles of the group's main brands every day.

Since 2019, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners has allocated more than 59 million euros to this plant, reinforcing its productive capacity, operational efficiency, and technological modernization. This infrastructure is complemented by a logistics center and five commercial offices spread throughout the Catalan territory, which allow for integrated coordination of production, distribution, and commercial activity.

"Coca-Cola has been producing beverages in Catalonia for more than 70 years. Barcelona was the city where the first bottle of Coca-Cola was manufactured on the Iberian Peninsula," recalls Josep Antoni Gómez, sales director for the East Area of Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Iberia. "This makes us a global company with a local origin, operations, and value chain."

Social impact and environmental commitment

Beyond economic activity, the company promotes initiatives in Catalonia aimed at strengthening the social fabric and promoting sustainable development. In the field of training and employability, the GIRA Mujeres and GIRA Jóvenes programs stand out, which have benefited more than 1,600 women and more than 500 young people in the Catalan territory, respectively. At the state level, Coca-Cola's corporate volunteering has accumulated 8,700 hours dedicated to social projects.

In the environmental field, programs such as Mares Circulares have allowed the collection of more than 4 tons of waste on beaches and aquatic environments in Catalonia since 2018, with the participation of more than 3,000 volunteers, and have promoted awareness actions on recycling and circular economy. In parallel, the Hostelería #PorElClima initiative has 4,294 establishments adhering in Catalonia, more than half of the new incorporations registered throughout the State in 2024.

Waste removal in natural environments is one of the main activities of Mares Circulares.

Internally, the Martorelles plant has incorporated measures to improve water and energy efficiency, such as water reuse, the use of advanced treatment technologies, the consumption of 100% renewable electricity, and the installation of more efficient systems to reduce its carbon footprint.
