Barcelona Tech City, the Col·legi d'Arquitectes de Catalunya (COAC) and the Institut d'Arquitectura Avançada de Catalunya (IAAC) are working to develop an urbantech hub, that is, to promote urban transformation and innovation in construction. It will host startups and promote the development of education programs and research.
The new space will be integrated with the rest of the innovation nodes that are being promoted in the city with the aim of replicating the success of Pier 01, with hubs focused on fintech, health or mobility. These hubs have been selected by the Government to apply for Next Generation EU funds.
The three promoting entities are already looking for buildings in Barcelona and its metropolitan area to locate this future hub, which they estimate will need an area of about 25,000 square meters. They are open to the participation of other professional associations, administrations, companies, professionals, organizations or entities that want to contribute to its development.
