The Government delegate in Catalonia, Teresa Cunillera, and the Secretary of Economic Affairs and European Funds of the Department of Economy and Finance of the Generalitat, Maria Matilde Villarroya Martínez, have valued the contribution of the BNEW-Barcelona New Economy Week event in the search for new opportunities within the new economy.
Cunillera and Villarroya agreed on the defense and importance of public-private collaboration to "face the challenges of the future that the coronavirus pandemic has only accelerated," said Cunillera. Similarly, they highlighted the historic opportunity offered by the resources of the European Next Generation funds to emerge from the crisis in the best possible way, that is, drawing a much more resilient economic model. In this regard, Villarroya also emphasized the role of "collaboration between administrations as fundamental to ensure that European funds reach all institutions, organizations, and companies that aim to transform the economy by responding to future needs." For Cunillera, the Government's work to channel European funds is also essential and is being done in a way that all companies can benefit, regardless of their business size.
The Government delegate in Catalonia and the Secretary of Economic Affairs and European Funds of the Department of Economy and Finance of the Generalitat made these statements during their participation in the opening ceremony of the second edition of BNEW which, organized by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona, kicked off this Tuesday, October 5, and will take place in Barcelona until October 8.
In their speeches, Cunillera and Villarroya highlighted the contributions of events such as BNEW for the new economy "as a forum for dialogue and discussion where innovative ideas emerge, which contribute to the future of the economy in general," Villarroya pointed out.
The administrations consider BNEW "a forum for dialogue and discussion where innovative ideas emerge, which contribute to the future of the economy in general"The Secretary of Economic Affairs of the Department of Economy also assured thatCatalonia and Barcelona "can contribute" to economic reactivationand spoke of transforming the economic system towards a social and just economy that respects the environment and surroundings through collaboration between administrations. "Catalunya, Barcelona, are very well positioned," he stressed.
Barcelona's role as the capital of the new economy has also been one of the aspects addressed by the first deputy mayor of the Barcelona City Council, Jaume Collboni. He has defended that "Barcelona has always had a vocation for leadership that has been reinforced after the coronavirus crisis." Collboni has called on investors to come to the city, which, according to him, is ready to welcome them and, like Cunillera and Villarroya, has appealed for "complicity" between the public and private sectors and to share the leadership of the Catalan capital with other cities in the world.
The Barcelona City Council calls on investors to consider the opportunities the city offers themReflections to which the special delegate of the State in the Consorci de la Zona Franca, Pere Navarro, joined in his turn to speak, for whom the celebration ofBNEW "permeates the city with new opportunities", demonstrating how "talent is the main capital the new economy needs". Navarro stated that the Barcelona New Economy Week, always in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), demonstrated since its first edition that the areas of action, and of debate and analysis, are no longer sectoral but are all interrelated and "this is the way they should be approached and, therefore, the way they will be dealt with in the multitude of sessions that will take place at BNEW 2021".
The event ---which its organizers do not want to call a fair but a global event--- will feature the participation of 800 international speakers, with 200 debate sessions and 240 hours of content around ten areas ---sustainability, science, mobility, talent, city, logistics, real estate, e-commerce, digital industry and economic zones---. The number of attendees has risen this year to 12,000 companies.
