To support the restaurant industry in an environment of maximum difficulty for small owners of bars and restaurants throughout Catalonia. With this objective, Gastrocat Online is born, a new information service so that the population can find out which restaurants offer delivery or take away service.

Starting today, restaurateurs will be able to access a computer platform that the Catalan Academy of Gastronomy will launch and fill out a form where they can specify what type of service they offer from now on to continue serving their customers.
"The Academy's mission is to promote, disseminate and protect the cuisine and gastronomic activities of the different Catalan regions. In these difficult times for everyone, we want to collaborate with the sector by disseminating the availability of its services throughout Catalonia over the next fifteen days," explains Carles Vilarrubí, president of the Catalan Academy of Gastronomy.
To access the Gastrocat Online platform, you must enter the academy's website, which will disseminate the services of each restaurant free of charge. The idea is to be able to update the guide daily and turn it into a useful tool for the different restaurants and chefs during this situation.
Citizens can search for restaurants on Gastrocat Online by town, type of cuisine, services offered, and by the name of the establishment. In Barcelona, for example, restaurants such as Via Veneto, A Pluma, Silvestre, Gaig Barcelona, M2 Gluten Free or Merquén, which all offer take-out or home delivery service, have already registered.
The Catalan Academy of Gastronomy and Nutrition is a public law corporation founded in 1989 in Barcelona by the journalist, gastronome and historian Néstor Luján. The entity headed by Vilarrubí followed the model of other academies, such as the French or the Basque, with the idea of disseminating and protecting Catalan cuisine. It is made up of 65 academics, including chef Carme Ruscalleda (vice president), businessman Artur Carulla (vice president), Ramon Agenjo, Paco Solé Parellada, Valentí Roqueta, Joaquim Uriach and Quim Vila, among others.
