The apparent paralysis of the cinematographic is, in reality, a temporary hemiplegia and in only one part of its extensive body, because the production and exhibition of new works currently lives in that wide world of streaming platforms a frantic activity that completely contradicts any idea of stagnation. A constant bubbling of projects, shootings, and new films and series in the audiovisual landscape, which we approach from a Catalan perspective.
Meanwhile, Leticia Dolera has already finished filming the second season of her series Vida perfecta, an original from Movistar+ and in which HBO Max participates, thus ensuring its broadcast in the United States. In this new installment, of six chapters, the story of María, Cris and Esther (Leticia Dolera, Celia Freijeiro and Aixa Villagrán) continues and is directed, in addition to Leticia Dolera, by Lucía Alemany and Irene Moray.
In the chapter of ongoing projects, there is also the filming of Todo lo otro, a series produced by HBO (together with Campanilla Films, from the Mandarina group) and which has the director, actress and screenwriter Abril Zamora as the main voice and gaze of a very current and generational story about thirty-something characters. Abril Zamora (Cerdanyola del Vallès, 1981) has a long professional career in film, television and theater, with titles such as Vis a vis, Señoras del (h)AMPA or alongside Sophia Loren in La vida por delante, and is a trans icon.
Also pending release in the near future is the six-episode series Todos mienten, directed by the Catalan Pau Freixas under the Movistar+ umbrella, and filmed in Tarragona. It deals with a sordid sexual matter in a school in a coastal town, and stars Natalia Verbeke, Irene Arcos, Leonardo Sbaraglia and Ernesto Alterio.
During this past year, and with various accelerations and stops in its eventful filming due to the health crisis, the Catalan Oriol Paulo was able to finish the series El inocente for Netflix, an intrigue based on a novel by Harlan Coben starring Mario Casas, Aura Garrido, Alexandra Jiménez and José Coronado.
Among the latest interesting premieres, we can mention, on Movistar+, Los espabilados, directed by Albert Espinosa and Roger Gual, about a group of young people who escape from a psychiatric center. And on Netflix, the second season of Hache, directed by Verónica Fernández, Jorge Torregrossa and Fernando Trullols, set in the murky environments of 1960s Barcelona and starring Adriana Ugarte and Eduardo Noriega.
And this Friday, February 26, Dani de la Orden's latest film, Loco por ella, premieres on Netflix, a fast-paced romantic comedy about a young man who decides to admit himself into a psychiatric hospital to rescue the woman he loves. Álvaro Cervantes and Susana Abeitua are the protagonists of this story with many components of the old and crazy screwball comedies.
