To reclaim and promote artisan trades. With this objective, Poble Espanyol celebrates FestivArt, the event for lovers and curious people of craftsmanship, which aims to highlight all those professions that require patience and manual work in an increasingly digitized and accelerated society. For two days, from Saturday, April 12 to Sunday, April 13, the streets and squares of the venue will be filled with live demonstrations, workshops for all ages, and a market of artisan products.
In addition to promoting craftsmanship, another of FestivArt's pillars is to foster sustainability and local products, values that are not only palpable through workshops to reuse recycled materials, but also through the event's commitment to working with local suppliers and restaurateurs from the area in its gastronomic space, which will feature several foodtrucks.
Live trade demonstrations
To get a close look at how artisans work, the festival also offers live trade demonstrations. Thus, it will be possible to discover how they work with techniques such as wet collodion for photography, blown glass or wrought iron, in addition to artisan jewelry, origami or botanical printing. Also, during the weekend, Poble Espanyol will also offer live music ---with acoustic guitar or jazz concerts--- and a storytelling recital to accompany the day.In addition to a space for creation and demonstrations, the event also aims to be a meeting place to highlight the past of craftsmanship and discuss how to approach the future of these trades, through presentations by experts and creators who will explore the challenges and opportunities of these professions.
