BDO has strengthened the Debt and Restructuring area of its office in Catalonia with the hiring of Ferran Travé, one of the most well-known professionals in Barcelona in the corporate and business banking sector thanks to the positions he has held for the last 27 years at the former Caja Madrid, at Bankia, and in recent months at CaixaBank.
A graduate in Business Management and with an MBA from ESADE, Travé joins as a Senior Advisor in BDO's team of consultants in Barcelona and in a division that Pablo Simón leads nationally. "With Ferrán Travé, we strengthen our team of experts who, together with the variety of existing financial instruments, can help companies find solutions to their needs, both to seek new forms of financing and to restructure current debt," explained Oriol Tapias, managing partner of Financial Advisory in Barcelona.
"The ICO, through commercial banking, has generated financing for more than 135,000 million euros, of which 19% has gone to Catalonia. This measure was very useful in past years to save companies' liquidity, but now it's time to recover sustainable debt levels," comments Travé. According to the financier, "there are companies that generate cash that, with good judgment and prudence, took on debt and will have no problems repaying it. But other companies, in sectors more affected by the pandemic, such as tourism or passenger transport, will have to structure their debt to align it with the economic recovery in their sectors and cash generation."
BDO has participated in major debt structuring and restructuring operations in Spain and also advises SEPI and Cofides in the new recapitalization processes for companies affected by Covid. Present in 167 countries, in Spain BDO employs a thousand professionals in thirteen cities.
