The general assembly of the Caja de Ingenieros cooperative group has appointed Félix Masjuan Teixidó as the new president after Josep Oriol Sala exhausted the number of renewals established in the statutes of the Barcelona financial entity. Masjuan is an industrial engineer and holds a degree in Business Management and Administration. He has been linked to Caja de Ingenieros for 45 years as a member, although it was in 2011 when he joined the governing council and began to hold positions in the governance structure.

Thus, since 2017, the new president was the secretary of the credit cooperative's governing council, and in 2018, he became the president of the Audit and Risks commission, in addition to also being one of the trustees of the Caja de Ingenieros Foundation. Masjuan has set the challenge of giving a new impetus to the entity so that it remains "a reference" in the banking sector and as a source of "financial and social value for families, professionals, and companies." The new president's objective is for Caja de Ingenieros to "generate a positive impact on society" and to keep its members, that is, its clients, at the center of its priorities. "It is an honor for me to be the eighth president of Caja de Ingenieros and to take over from Josep Oriol Sala, who leaves a legacy of great relevance for our group," Masjuan highlighted.

In parallel to his appointment, the governing council of Caja de Ingenieros has approved other changes. Antonio Santamans has been appointed vice president and August Bou will be the new secretary. Sara Gómez, Ana Oller, Anna Toda, and Javier García Pellejero also join as members. "With this renewal, the group expands its gender diversity, with 30% women, and strengthens its territorial representation," explains the cooperative entity.

The new president, Félix Masjuan, with Josep Oriol Sala, who has presided over the entity for the last nine years.

Caja de Ingenieros closed 2020 with 209,748 members, up 2.8%. In a year marked by the pandemic, the entity reduced its net profit by 11%, which stood at 11.36 million euros. The financial group led by Joan Cavallé registered a business volume of 7.7 billion (+8.79%) and increased its loan portfolio by 10%, with a volume of loans granted to members that now reaches 1.981 billion. New credit granted during the year was 557 million, up 46%, a growth driven by the sharp increase in corporate loans (+98%). The delinquency ratio remains very low, at 2.75%.
