Foment del Treball resumes the commemorative events for the 250th anniversary of the business institution. The Catalan employers' association already presented the Medal of Honor last June to the editor Javier Godó and to the Italian Prime Minister, Mario Draghi. Now it has announced that this distinction will also be awarded to the president of the La Caixa Banking Foundation, Isidre Fainé; to the editor of the British magazine The Economist, Susan Zanny Minton, to the Cotton Textile Industry Association (AITPA) and to Xacobeo.

According to the employers' association chaired by Josep Sánchez-Llibre, the Medal of Honor aims to recognize personalities and initiatives that stand out for their "valuable contribution to economic, social and cultural progress." Two of these new distinctions, those of Fainé and AITPA, will be presented during an anniversary gala to be held in November with the presence of the country's highest authorities. Foment highlights that Isidre Fainé "has contributed to making it possible for La Caixa to maintain intact, 117 years later, the social principles and values that inspired its foundation." The promoter of the financial entity, Francesc Moragas, was, precisely, general secretary of Foment del Treball.

The award to the textile employers' association AITPA is granted in representation of the set of business organizations that are part of Foment and stands out for its symbolic character, since it was the industrialists of the textile sector who promoted the great Catalan employers' association.

Zanny Minton, editor of The Economist, will receive the Medal of Honor at an event scheduled to be held during the first half of 2022. Finally, the president of the Xunta de Galicia, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, will be in charge of collecting the distinction awarded to Xacobeo during the Atlantic Forum, scheduled for next September 29 in La Toja. Foment considers that the celebration of the Compostela Holy Year, which reaches its 120th in history, is also "a success story from a tourist point of view" that needs to be recognized.
