El Corte Inglés has delivered a check for 280,602 euros to the Spanish Association Against Cancer to subsidize a new cancer research project developed at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona. This is a phase I clinical trial of a treatment for HER2+ breast cancer led by Dr. Julio Delgado from IDIBAPS. According to the department store group, this contribution is the result of the campaign that the company organized last autumn on the occasion of World Breast Cancer Day, which is celebrated every October 19.

The objective of the study, which will be carried out mainly at the Hospital Clínic for five years, is to evaluate the toxicity and efficacy of ARI-HER2+ cells in the treatment of HER2+ breast cancer, establishing the most appropriate dose for each patient. "The research project aims to design a new personalized cell therapy drug that would be effective in patients without treatment options. It would consist of genetically reprogramming the patient's own immune system," explains El Corte Inglés.

Within the framework of its collaboration with the Spanish Association Against Cancer, the group has so far fully funded four projects carried out in various Spanish research centers. This new study continues, explains El Corte Inglés, the personalized immunotherapy in breast cancer developed by Dr. Aleix Prat and for which the company committed in 2020 to contribute one million euros over five years.
