Before an object materializes and arrives at a store, it has passed through many hands, tests, and changes. An idea that is drawn, built, tested, and sometimes, starts over. It is at this moment, when nothing is entirely decided yet, where the new edition of the Barcelona Design Week focuses, which this year takes the motto PRO-TEST to vindicate design as a living process, made of questions, trials, and reformulations.
For twelve days, the city will allow entry into some of these moments when ideas are still taking shape. At Kave and Mentalitat Atelier, for example, one can follow the trace of a product from the first sketch to the prototype and the final touches, while Inside the Collection, by Coordonné, will open its doors to the process behind a collection before it reaches the final result. The tour will also look back, with a proposal that reviews Elisava's 65 years of history, and will go out into the streets with a project that brings design to local shops: 11 artists will intervene 185 shutters in 10 districts of Barcelona.
