To promote climate innovation through support programs for entrepreneurs and startups. This is the objective with which Cleantech Hub has landed in Barcelona, in what will be its first headquarters in Europe. The new center will connect the talent and initiatives of the Barcelona and European ecosystem with the Latin American one, from which Cleantech Hub emerged five years ago.

With this objective, the new hub will support the business and financial growth of emerging companies in the climate and cleantech sector. Through its activity, the center will contribute to positioning Barcelona as an emerging hub for clean technology companies, with an ecosystem of great potential and growing demand.

Cleantech Hub, based in Colombia, has chosen Barcelona to enter the European ecosystem with the support of Barcelona Global's investment attraction agency, Barcelona&Partners. From its hub in the Catalan capital, it will offer specialized growth services for established startups, and will promote the entrepreneurship of new initiatives in early stages.

In addition, it will foster collaboration between local and international actors, also through its network of hubs, located in Colombia, Peru, Costa Rica, and Guatemala. The company, which plans to open centers also in Panama and El Salvador, has so far supported more than 600 entrepreneurs, and has collaborated with more than 3,000 ecosystem actors worldwide, something it will now also do from Barcelona.

The city's entrepreneurial and technological ecosystem was a key factor in choosing the city to locate the new headquarters, along with its network of incubators and accelerators, its historical connection with Latin America, and the city's ability to attract international talent.

"Barcelona is already a benchmark in technological entrepreneurship and now we want to collaborate with public administrations, corporate partners, universities, incubators, and investors to promote entrepreneurship in clean technologies so that the city becomes a global leader in sustainability," said Jop Blom, founder of Cleantech Hub, who does not detail the investment involved in opening the new center.

From Barcelona&Partners, its general director, Montse Puig, has defended that the new hub "will be a point of attraction for new investments, talent, and climate tech companies towards Barcelona, a city with great growth potential in sustainability."
