César Piqueras: "Productivity is a matter of being true to oneself"

CEO of Excélitas Global and one of the most recognized speakers and executive coaches in the country, César Piqueras is also a man of habit. He wakes up every day at five-thirty in the morning to meditate, exercise, and, in short, prepare himself to face a new day. And it is that, for Piqueras, the path to productivity success is based on routines.

l trainer has closed the Barcelona New Economy Week (BNEW) with his talk "Personal Productivity 4.0", in which he explained that "productivity is a way to be more efficient" both personally and professionally. For this reason, he has offered three keys to achieve our life goals.

The first thing to think about, according to Piqueras, are the goals. The executive coach has encouraged "to write down goals more, share them with our loved ones and review the progress we are making". To do this, goals must respond to the acronym "M.E.T.A4": Measurable, Specific, defined in Time, Achievable, Authentic, Ambitious and Actionable, so that they allow us to take the necessary steps to achieve them.

If goals are the "what" of the matter, the next step, the development of a plan, is the "how". There are life plans, annual plans and weekly plans but, what Piqueras gives most importance to, is daily planning, "because that's when we sabotage ourselves the most". Thus, it must be clear that "every morning we sign a contract with ourselves" and we have to work to fulfill it.

Precisely, the third step for personal and professional productivity is to be able to put all those plans into practice. Piqueras has pointed to the "capacity for focus" on the task we are performing as one of the "ingredients" to take action. He has also highlighted "willpower" as another of the keys to increasing productivity. Piqueras has assured that "it is like a muscle, it can be trained" and that it is essential "to learn to manage" willpower to avoid the temptations that arise throughout the day.

The path to our goals is hard, but each of us has "the possibility of reaching the goal". After all, as the executive coach assures, productivity is, above all, "a matter of personal fidelity" because "sometimes one seeks failure oneself".
