Casa Tarradellas recorded a turnover of 1,161 million euros in 2022, an 8% increase compared to the previous year, when it was 1,072 million euros. The food company based this increase on growth in foreign markets and the consolidation of new products in Spain. Despite the improvement in revenues, the company's profits suffered due to the rise in raw material costs, absorbed by the brand to maintain prices.
The company based in Gurb allocated 32.6 million euros to R&D last year, with the consolidation of new products such as the slow-fermentation pizza, with a softer and lighter dough. For Casa Tarradellas, this is "a significant advance" since the introduction of its fresh pizza in 1996, which changed supermarket shelves.
In addition, the company continued investing in green energy, a strategy it began to promote in 2004. In this first semester, it launched two new photovoltaic parks with an area of 53,000 square meters, located at its espetec production center in Olost and Gurb. With these two new parks, the brand will have about 200,000 square meters of installed solar surface by the end of this year, a 55% increase compared to 2022.
For the future, Casa Tarradellas plans to continue launching new products that will join its pizzas, fuets, cooked ham, bacon, fresh doughs, pâtés, and mixed sandwiches. It also plans a new center to increase flour production capacity.
Two years ago, in 2021, after growing 8% in the first year of the pandemic, the company inaugurated a new logistics center and robotic warehouse in Gurb. After an investment of 15 million euros, the facilities have an area of 4,700 square meters and capacity for 9,000 pallets. In addition, they incorporate natural refrigeration circuits, thus eliminating fossil fuel boilers.
