Capri did not invent Valentino

In the 19th century, European travelers began to speak of Capri as if they had discovered it to the world, and in the 50s it reached mythical status by becoming a mandatory stop for the international jet set.

Octavio Augusto had already noticed it before and took care to build an imperial villa to which he would return for 40 years to contemplate the Tyrrhenian Sea. His successor, Tiberius, did the same with Villa Jovis, whose ruins are among the best preserved in Italy. Thus they invented vacations, a word that still sounds like magic 2,000 years later, especially if they take place here. In the 19th century, European travelers began to speak of Capri as if they had discovered it to the world, and in the 50s it reached the category of myth by becoming an obligatory stop for the jet set international.

So we're going: dress in white (of course capri pants), sunglasses, a silk scarf around your neck and enjoy the island. If you can't find me, I'm lost around here!

Villa Mediterranea. It is a small hotel with only 10 suites. It is part of the famous Tiberio Palace hotel, but maintains its independence and exclusivity. The decoration is absolutely different and original. It pays homage to the bathers of the 50s: mannequins in swimsuits, caps and swimming goggles welcome guests. The rooms with mint green and blue wallpaper, pink carpets, polka dot headboards, violet curtains and paintings with beach motifs are pure color, creating a very summery atmosphere.

Jk Place Capri. Michele Bonan has designed the hotel's interiors in a classic, urban style, and even with a certain English rural air, in soft pastel tones and patterned wallpaper. Some rooms (22 in total) have balconies overlooking the sea, and panoramic views of the Gulf of Naples. The JK Place is one of the few hotels in Capri that are located right on the ocean and very close to the old Roman town, on the edge of a cliff overlooking the port.

Aurora. Probably the most luxurious pizzeria in all of Italy. It is home to the pizza all'acqua (a light version of the traditional Neapolitan dough). The D'Alessio family, now in its third generation, manages this "museum of Caprese gastronomy". Chef Franco Aversa brings imagination and creativity to Gennaro D'Alessio's famous pizzas, which are called "water" not in reference to the preparation, but because there is so much pepper that they are "on fire". Hence, customers ask for a lot of water to put it out.

Laboratorio Capri. In the 60s, Sartoria Gigino was a reference point for the jet set international who year after year visited their boutique attracted by the fantasy and talent of two exceptional tailors: Luigi and María Luisa. In 2010, the family brought together so much creativity in the exclusive atmosphere of Laboratorio Capri, where their famous handmade creations continue. Miguel and Augusto, the sons, select the works of artisans who reinterpret that flavor of the 50s and 60s. Colorful fabrics, ethnic details, new volumes and shapes, remaining faithful to the unequivocally Capri spirit.
