Bergé has a new terminal in the Port of Barcelona. With it, the logistics operator strengthens its operational capacity in the Catalan capital. The new facilities have more than 73,700 meters of multi-purpose operational surface, equipped with machinery such as mobile cranes, elevated goods platforms, and tractor heads.

This opening by Bergé is part of the logistics company's modernization and renovation plan for facilities and infrastructure. It also responds to a process of opening the port to the city and its residents, which promotes the public use of Moll Barcelona.

The decision to concentrate cruises at Moll Adossat led to the relocation of Bergé's terminal from this pier, in order to free it up and reserve it for cruise traffic. The agreement, reached between the port and the City Council in 2018, aims to gain port space for Barcelona residents and open it to the city.

The new terminal, located at Príncipe de España Pier, will allow for an increase in project cargo services. This is a growing sector, which consists of the logistics of heavy cargo that exceeds usual dimensions. In this area, Barcelona's port infrastructure is key: it acts as a nexus between the Mediterranean and ports in North America, the Caribbean, Latin America, Africa, and Asia.

Bergé strengthens its operational capacity with the new terminal for two reasons: it is closer to the port accesses, and it allows the company to concentrate all operations in the same facilities. This proximity and concentration of processes allows for increased efficiency and minimizes environmental impact by reducing traffic within the port area.

Bergé's new facilities join those it has in the Zona Franca, where it has 40,000 square meters of covered space for value-added logistics operations, as well as customs warehousing and transit storage. Bergé operates in 27 Spanish ports and another in Bayonne (France), from which the company annually handles more than 30 million tons of goods.
