Barcelona steps on the gas to boost the maintenance, renovation, and transformation of its neighborhoods. With this objective, the City Council will invest 105 million euros, which will be distributed in a total of 1,280 maintenance and renovation actions and 24 neighborhood transformations in the city.

Of all of them, the mayor, Jaume Collboni, has detailed that the most intense work will be carried out in the Porta neighborhood, in Nou Barris, and in Poble-sec, in Sants-Montjuïc. They will also do so with a novelty: to try to reduce inconvenience to residents, the City Council has opted to concentrate all planned works in a neighborhood in the same period of time, with the aim of minimizing the impact of the works.

Maintenance actions will focus on improvements to paving and sidewalks, as well as changes in furniture, and actions in parks and gardens, in sewerage and public lighting. Improvements will also be included in nine staircases and elevators, in more than 100 public fountains and 350 traffic lights. In addition, about twenty accessibility improvement works will be carried out, with the removal of elements such as electrical poles, and action will be taken on seven road structures, such as bridges and pergolas.

These maintenance and renovation actions, framed within the Pla Endreça, will be executed in 29 neighborhoods distributed across the ten districts of the city. These works will have a budget of 86 million euros for this year, included in the total 105 million. The City Council's forecast is to deploy its Comprehensive Maintenance Plan of the Pla Endreça in all neighborhoods of the city: it will reach 28 more in 2026, and the remaining 16 in 2027.

For its part, the 24 transformation actions will reach 13 neighborhoods in eight more districts this year. With 19 million euros, these transformations will include actions such as accessibility improvements and urban reforms. During 2025, interventions will be made in neighborhoods such as Gòtic, Coll, Montbau, Porta, Sant Andreu and Camp de l'Arpa del Clot. The City Council also plans to maintain this line during the coming years, with 31 more transformations next year.

The City Council has closed 2024 with more than 150 actions carried out within the Pla Endreça, through which a total of 30 hectares of pavement have been renovated and seven works have been started to expand the phreatic water network, which will reduce the consumption of drinking water for irrigation by 115,000 cubic meters per year, among other actions.

By 2027, the City Council estimates that it will have carried out more than 3,000 actions for the maintenance and transformation of Barcelona's 73 neighborhoods. It will do so with a total budget of 435 million euros, to which are added another 550 million included in the ordinary maintenance items of the Catalan capital.

The Pla Endreça will carry out maintenance actions in all neighborhoods between now and 2027.
