The ICT sector, one of the most cutting-edge in the city, has as a pending issue to reduce the gender gap that characterizes it. About thirty companies in Barcelona have committed to promote and develop concrete measures in this direction. They have done so within the framework of the Gender Equality Tech Hub (GETHub), promoted by the Barcelona City Council jointly with the women's technology school for women, allWomen.tech.
Under the deployment of this network, the companies have set a series of actions to be developed this 2022 as objectives. For example, they have committed to promoting the hiring of more staff through specialized services in female talent, or to developing inclusive and non-sexist communication guides, gender self-diagnoses, and projects to know the company's gender data. They have also opted to incorporate female talent, with the aim of achieving parity between the technical and executive teams, and to include the possibility for all staff to telework during the first year of their children's birth. Finally, they have committed to promoting initiatives that enhance the presence of female role models, to prioritize the profiles of women who apply for company vacancies, and to create working groups for gender equity. Of all these actions, they must comply with at least three this year.
The companies that are part of the network are Between Technology, iterem, Pixel Research Lab, Allianz Technology, Thoughtworks, Talhis, Cyberclick, Citibeats, Vitaance, PepsiCo, Innovamat, Basetis, Wefox, Witte y Solá, Unblur, Veepee, Haufe, Vista, Nestlé, Databot, Qualifyze, GreenPowerMonitor, Profes en Apuros, eDiversa Group, Autodesk, the Mobile World Capital Barcelona (MWCapital) foundation, Voxel, ProtoPixel, Nae, DMI, ServiZurich - Technology Delivery Center and Seqera.
Currently, the city only has 29% women in the digital sector and contracted ICT specialists represent on average 19.5% of the tech sector. To reverse these figures, GETHub is open to any company headquartered in the Barcelona metropolitan area, of any size and with a real commitment to gender equity that is willing to work internally to reduce the gender gap.
With participation in this program, companies obtain a commitment to equality. In addition, participation in the project allows companies to collaborate in a network with the City Council, allWomen.tech and other members of the GETHub, in the same way that they have access to resources and specialized support.
