Barcelona occupies the seventh position in the global ranking of international talent attraction for an MBA (Master in Business Administration), according to the third edition of the study MBA City Monitor 2017, conducted by ESADE.
This study, which is carried out by Iván Bofarull, director of Global Insights & Strategic Initiatives at the ESADE business school, evaluates the capacity of cities to attract full-time international MBA students. These students dedicate between 12 and 24 months to the MBA, so the decision of the destination is made very carefully.
Barcelona, with 924 students, has climbed two positions in this ranking.
The city that attracts the most international MBA students is Boston (United States), with 1,582 students. The next is New York (1,474 students), while third place goes to London (1,228), the first European city. Paris is fourth (1,068) and Chicago fifth (1,031).
The three European cities that are among the top ten in the world – London, Paris, and Barcelona – have managed to move up in this year's ranking. In these three areas are prestigious business schools such as London Business School, Oxford and Cambridge in the London area, Insead and HEC in Paris, and IESE and ESADE in Barcelona, among others.
To prepare this report, which has been published since 2013, the 100 universities that lead the Full-Time MBA ranking published by the Financial Times newspaper have been taken into account. Educational centers located a maximum of two hours away are included in each area.
