At a time when tourists are not strolling through the streets of the Catalan capital, Barcelona Global wants to reactivate the sector with visits to some of its emblematic spaces led by the directors and managers of these institutions, such as Gaudí's jewels, the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion, Casa Vicens, the Poble Espanyol, the Olympic Port, the Wax Museum, the Palau de la Música, the Olympic Ring, Montjuic Cemetery or the Sant Pau Modernist Enclosure.
They will also have the opportunity to visit cultural institutions such as the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art (MACBA), the Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB), the Mapfre Foundation, the Picasso Museum, the Miró Foundation, the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC), the Vila Casas Foundation or the Antoni Tàpies Foundation. There will even be visits to more family-friendly destinations, such as the Aquarium, the Zoo and Tibidabo.
The program Barcelona in first person will be held from this February until May, with reduced visits and respecting all safety and hygiene measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The association estimates that a total of 370 members will be able to participate in these activities, out of the more than one thousand that comprise it, taking into account the limited capacities that must be met.
The main mission of this initiative is to contribute to the rediscovery of the city that all Barcelonians are taking advantage of since the beginning of the pandemic and the disappearance of visitors, in addition to encouraging the city to recover activity as soon as possible. "It is essential that Barcelonians themselves know firsthand all the attributes that we can offer as a city and even more so at such an unusual time as the present. The objective of this program is to highlight among Barcelonians the pride of having great cultural and entertainment attractions in our city, in addition to encouraging reflection on the importance of having a heritage like ours and feeling it as our own," says the president of Barcelona Global, Aurora Catà.
