In the heart of Barcelona, where design and creativity mark the spirit of the city, Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week (BBFW) has consolidated itself as an essential meeting point forbridal and gala fashion. With a consolidated trajectory over more than three decades, the event celebrates this year, from April 22 to 26,its most international edition, with Stéphane Rolland's haute couture as a major global draw.Rolland's designs, however, will not be the only ones to parade down the runway at the Montjuïc exhibition center. From April 22 to 24,34 designers will present more than 1,000 creations from the 2027 season. The parades will combine Spanish brands such as Yolancris or Isabel Sanchís with big international names from Europe, the United States, and Asia, such as Peter Langner and Demetrios, creating a mosaic that reflects the diversity of the sector, which ranges from renewed classicism to new contemporary narratives. A diversity on the runway that also translates into each design. As has been highlightedAlbasarí Caro, director of BBFW, during the presentation of the show, "each bride dresses as she wants, at the age she chooses and with whom she wishes." A plurality that is especially evident in this year's edition, which will be held under the mottoOn the Shoulders of Giants, which pays tribute to all the figures —sometimes invisible— who drive and shape the bridal fashion sector. "The sector is nourished by all these giants: from big brands to women who work in small workshops," Caro has claimed.

This year's edition will have as its stellar moment the tenth edition of the Barcelona Bridal Night, on April 22, which will present for the first time in Spain the designs of the Frenchman Stéphane Rolland. Under the concept Sculpted by Nature, the couturier will transform Hall 8 of the Montjuïc exhibition center into "a monumental cathedral", where fashion, music and architecture will merge in an evening that will showcase more than 80 creations, from historical designs to new pieces.

But Rolland's creations will not parade alone: the designer has invited 23 students from IED Barcelona (Istituto Europeo di Design), LCI Barcelona and ESDi (Escola Superior de Disseny) to open the show with their own creations, the result of months of joint work with the renowned couturier. All this, during an evening that will also incorporate a solidarity component: 22 original sketches by Rolland will be put up for sale, and their proceeds will be fully donated to the Fundación Kàlida, which offers comprehensive and free support to people affected by cancer from its center at the Hospital de Sant Pau.

A great meeting point for the bridal business

Beyond the runway, this year's edition wants to put even more focus on the trade fair, which from April 24 to 26 will bring together more than 400 brands —87% international—, consolidating BBFW as a unique platform where live fashion and showroom merge.

"The objective is to give even more prominence to the commercial area than in previous editions", Caro underlined, showing confidence in repeating last year's record figures, when the fair closed with 23,500 visitors, the best in its history. So far, for this edition, up to 6% more professional buyers than last year have already registered, with an unprecedented number of buyers from the United States.

In total, the commercial space will bring together 420 brands from 37 countries, with a strong presence of firms from the United States, Italy, the United Kingdom, France, Poland, and Ukraine. Without forgetting, in addition, the Asian market, which despite the logistical and transport problems derived from the geopolitical situation, maintains a relevant presence in the salon, with firms such as The Atelier by Prof. Jimmy Choo (Malaysia), Vaishali Studio (India), Wang Feng (Shanghai), Joli Poli (Vietnam) or Serina (Japan).

Beyond Asia, the commercial space will also feature international haute couture firms such as the American Maggie Sottero and Justin Alexander, the Australian K. Andreatta —participating in the salon for the first time—, as well as Spanish brands such as Marco & María or Cortana. A harmonious combination of local and international talent that reflects the global projection of this year's edition.
