Digitalization and the use of mobile applications reach all sectors. The legal field, despite its more conservative nature, is no exception and is giving birth to a new generation of startups, the so-called LegalTech, which allow digitizing and making life easier for lawyers and also facilitating access to legal services for the population. In this sense, Meeting Lawyers is one of those new companies that have set out to "revolutionize the legal sector" through an app, with an online legal guidance service through chat and video calls with which they want to "democratize access to legal guidance in Spain".
Meeting Lawyers has Albert Rivera, former leader of Ciudadanos, as its president, and was born in Barcelona with a business model that is not directly aimed at end customers, but at companies and institutions that, in turn, offer the service to their employees and clients. This B2B2C model allows, for example, all clients of a bank, an insurance company, or an energy company to benefit from having a lawyer at their service on their mobile, just one click away. In this case, the user does not have to pay, as it is a benefit obtained for being a client of that company, which is the one that contracts Meeting Lawyers.
The model can also be used as an additional tool for companies' human resources policy, which can offer Meeting Lawyers to their employees, just as they offer dining, daycare, or medical assistance services, among others. "The most outstanding differential element of our platform lies in the fact that we have our own technology that allows us to adapt like a glove to the client's demands and tastes, as well as offer an unparalleled user experience," explains Claudia Pierre, co-founder of Meeting Lawyers and head of business in Europe.
Pierre, who is Oscar Pierre's cousin ---co-founder of Glovo--- has created the startup with lawyer Carlos Ripollés, based in Mexico and with experience in banking and advising companies investing in Latin America. Ripollés will be the CEO of Meeting Lawyers in this geographical area. Also part of the company's founding core are Albert Castells and José López, with experience in providing services through chat and video calls, as they are the creators of Meeting Doctors and iSalud. Finally, the law firm Martínez-Echevarría & Rivera participates in the project, contributing its knowledge in the legal sector. Albert Rivera is the executive president of this firm and also holds the presidency of the board of directors that Meeting Lawyers has constituted, where he "will contribute his experience and leadership," the startup explained.
Employees or clients of companies using the Meeting Lawyers service will be able to contact a lawyer online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The firm assures that there will be a minimum of one lawyer per specialty on call always available and with a response time of less than two minutes. Consultations will be made directly with the lawyer who responds to the chat or video call, without intermediaries and without prior appointment. The company offers a basic package that includes specialized advice in seven areas: consumption, housing, debts, work, family, taxation, and services for drivers.
Meeting Lawyers' technology is incorporated into the website, Intranet, or mobile application of its clients, as it functions as a white label, that is, as another service offered by that corporation. "It is the companies that capitalize on all the added value of offering a legal advisory service to their clients or employees," Ripollés emphasizes.
