New intercontinental route for Barcelona Airport for next summer. American Airlines has announced that it will connect the Catalan capital with Dallas for the first time. It will do so with a daily flight that will begin operating in June 2024. The aircraft used will be a Boeing 777-200, with capacity for more than 270 passengers.
"American will expand its position as the largest U.S. airline with service to Barcelona. With five gateways to choose from in the U.S., American offers an unparalleled schedule and network for customers looking to enjoy all that Barcelona has to offer," the airline states.
The new connection will join the other four that the American company already offers to Barcelona. Currently, El Prat flies daily with American to Chicago, Philadelphia, Miami, and New York. Before the pandemic, it connected with Charlotte.
Dallas Airport, the busiest in the state of Texas, operates as a hub for American Airlines. In 2022, the company moved more than 59 million passengers through this airport. With 240 destinations reaching 25 countries, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) reaches 800 daily flights in summer.
