The pandemic has only accelerated e-commerce, and although more and more small businesses are selling online, the big beneficiary continues to be Amazon, the American multinational controlled by Jeff Bezos. This unstoppable growth means that the company's logistical needs also continue to increase, and it takes advantage of any available land to evaluate the commissioning of a new warehouse to get goods to its customers as quickly as possible.

This is what has just happened with the land occupied by the former General Cable factory in Montcada i Reixac, one of the last industrial closures suffered by the metropolitan area. The close proximity of this location to the city of Barcelona made it very attractive for Amazon, which has decided to install a new logistics center, as reported by TV3.
After closing the factory, the industrial group Prysmian, which owned General Cable, sold the land this summer to the international logistics park developer Goodman, who will now build a warehouse tailored to Amazon's needs, with Amazon leasing the building.
Apparently, Goodman will build a 21,000 square meter logistics center that the US online shopping giant plans to occupy starting next summer. The Montcada platform will become Amazon's eighth logistics center in Catalonia. The group also has warehouses in El Prat and the Zona Franca and in other cities such as Castellbisbal and Martorelles.
