l board of directors of Aigües de Barcelona has restructured the company's management team, which until now was led by Ignacio Escudero. This professional will assume new responsibilities within the Suez group, as explained by the company's president in Spain, Ángel Simón, on his Twitter account.
According to Simón, Escudero will hold the position of Global Knowledge Champion of Operational Transformation, new functions that he considers well-deserved thanks to "his invaluable work at the head of Aigües de Barcelona."

The new general director of the metropolitan water company, Rubén Ruiz, will report to the company's CEO, Albert Martínez Lacambra. A Civil Engineer from the UPC, Ruiz had previously held various positions in the Agbar Group, such as project engineer for Clabsa, operations manager in Galicia, organizational transformation director and, more recently, operations director for Suez Concesiones Iberia.
His predecessor in the position received a remuneration of 146,221 euros last year, including fixed and variable salary, according to the company's website.
Aigües de Barcelona is 70% owned by Agbar (a subsidiary of the French group Suez), 15% by Criteria (the holding company of the La Caixa Banking Foundation) and 15% by the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB), which is why it is considered a mixed-capital or public-private company.
According to the company, the management restructuring aims to "advance in the challenges of the current stage, address reconstruction and boost the social pact." The challenge is to promote the transformation of Aigües de Barcelona to "promote equity, improve people's quality of life and contribute to a more sustainable, resilient and prosperous urban ecosystem."
In this sense, the new management must implement a new organizational model based on four main pillars: social pact, commitment to citizens, operational excellence and transformation, digitalization and innovation.
The changes also aim to favor parity and generational renewal in the company. Five general sub-directorates will report to the new director: Directorate of Business Transformation and Control, Directorate of Operations, Directorate of Institutional Relations, Social Action and Responsibility, Directorate of Communication and Clients, and Directorate of Governance and Regulation.
