The startup Voilà has received the first prize of Innofood, a program created by Barcelona Activa and Mercabarna with the aim of supporting the creation of new companies that present innovations in the gastronomic world. The startup has created a new brand of edible tableware, cutlery, and glasses, which serve to replace plastic and are made with cereals. In this case, sustainability and new gastronomic experiences go hand in hand.

The cutlery, also gluten-free and lactose-free and designed for all audiences, is completely organic and includes the zero-waste label. Its creator, Laura Gispert, also introduces the concept use and eat, which fights against the proliferation of disposable plastic cutlery. They are even biodegradable because, if the user decides not to consume them, the packaging disappears in 30 days. Gispert's invention was born while she was studying at Elisava and is expected to hit the market this February.
But Voilà has not been the only startup winner of the Innofood program. In second and third place were Let's Cook, by Nils Gustav Magnus Johansson, and Gastrocampo, by Léa Blanchard. Let's Cook is a website that weekly sends its users the ingredients to prepare food, while Gastrocampo consists of an app that facilitates direct commercialization between small producers and restaurants.
The three startups will receive an economic prize of 12,000 euros, 6,000 euros, and 3,000 euros, respectively, and will have an incubation space in the Food Trade Center of Mercabarna, where they will receive support from specialists and companies from the central market.
This has been the second edition of Innofood and the dozen startups that have participated have received managerial and sectoral training and entrepreneurial skills development, in addition to accessing a network of relevant contacts in the sector.
